Belgium makes a statement, destroys US 4-1

For the Fourth time in the last five world cups, the United States has lost in the round of 16. Everytime, this is when the Americans struggle in the tournament.

With FIFA suspending the red card on Folarin Balogun before the Belgium match. Belgium was pissed off and they took it out on the Americans winning easily by the final score of 4-1. Charles De Ketelaere of Belgium scored two goals in the ninth and thirty-third minutes. Hans Vanakan in the fifty-seventh minute and Romelu Lukaku closed the game out with a goal in stopage time (90+3).

This was the best game Belgium had played in the World Cup. If Belgium plays at this momentum. They could go even further in the knockout stage of the tournament?

Belgium plays Spain next, which is a beast and one of the best teams left. If Belgium plays Spain the way they play the Americans. They could send Spain home earlier than anticipated.

The US played their worst game of the World Cup last night. They did not play at their capability. Belgium scored the first goal. Then Malik Tillman made the penalty kick to tie the game at 1-1 at the thirty-one minute mark. That was the only highlight for the Americans

Belgium wasted no time scoring their second goal of the game in less than two minutes after the American goal to regain the lead at 2-1. Belgium never looked back from that point. It flat out comes down that Belgium has better soccer players than the US. Belgium is faster than the Americans and Belgium is better team overall than the US.

Some other questions are is Christian Pulisic overrated and not what we expected? He had a horrible World Cup. Goalkeeper Matt Freese couldn’t stop a nose bleed. The red card lifted on Bolarin helped Belgium more than it did the Americans. It made Belgium mad and put a chip on their shoulder.

What can the Americans do to get to the level of some of the other elite countries in soccer? Will or can the Americans ever get past a quarterfinal of a World Cup? Do we have any American soccer players better than Pulisic? Is Mauricio Pochettino the right coach for the US? Many things the US must do and fix in order to be an elite team in the future?

Many questions and hopefully the Americans have some answers to fix these issues before the 2030 World Cup. The first thing the United States mens soccer team must do is qualify to play in the next world cup. The US missed the World Cup in 2018 after losing to Belgium in the knockout round of the 2014 World Cup.
