Several local softball players named to All-Southwestern Indiana team

 The Evansville Courier and Press announced the All-Southwestern Indiana Softball team. Another historic season for the Tecumseh Braves winning another state title. Plus, Barr-Reeve was also crowned state champions in Class 1A. Two Southwestern Indiana schools claimed half of the state championships from Purdue University's Bittinger Stadium on the first weekend of June. 

This year's All-Southwestern Indiana softball player of the year went to sophomore pitcher Audrey Seiler of Tecumseh with a 0.65 earned run average. The Co-Coaches of the year for the All-Southwestern Indiana team were Gordon Wood of Tecumseh) and Josh Huff of Barr-Reeve. 

Three softball players from the Posey County area made this team. Selected from North Posey were juniors Lily Hester and Madison Versteeg. From Mount Vernon was Alaina Allyn. Two from Gibson County with Laney Scherer and Carly Potts both of Gibson Southern. Hester made the team as a infielder and led the Lady Vikings with a .447 batting average. Versteeg make the area team as a catcher and was second in hitting for the Lady Vikings with a .444 batting average. 

Senior Alaina Allyn of Mount Vernon also made the All-Southwestern Indiana softball team as a pitcher. Last season, Allyn had a 2.24 earned run average. Gibson Southern had two players get recognized for this honor. Selected for the All-Southwestern Indiana team were junior Laney Scherer and senior Carly Potts. Scherer made the team as a second baseman/shortstop and had a .536 batting average. Potts, a University of Iowa signee made the team as a outfielder and had a .413 batting average.
