Messi break World cup record for goals 

Lionel Messi of Argentina became the highest goal scorer in World Cup history Monday, scoring his seventeenth and eighteenth goals in the Group J match against Austria and breaking a tie of 16 goals with Germany legend Miroslav Klose. Messi entered the day on 16 goals following a hat trick in Argentina's opener. He missed a penalty kick early on against Austria which briefly denied him the record. But Messi bounced back in the 38th minute and then added a late second in the 2-0 win over Austria from Dallas, which secured the defending champion Argentina a spot in the knockout round. 

 The Argentina captain has now scored in six consecutive World Cups and his 18th goal all-time also moves him ahead of women's World Cup top scorer Marta, who has 17. The goals put Messi up to 121 international goals for Argentina, trailing only Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo, who has 143. 

Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes down to Boston and Miami 

 We could see Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo being traded before the start of Tuesday nights NBA Draft. The top two teams expected to get Antetokounmpo are the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat. Boston would most likely send Jaylen Brown and some draft picks to the Bucks for Giannis. Brown averaged a career-high 28.7 points per game last season. 

As for Miami, it looks like a lot of money and draft picks for the next few seasons. The Bucks finished 32-50 and did not make the playoffs, snapping a streak of nine consecutive years in the playoffs. Antetokounmpo played in only 36 games last year due to groin, calf and knee injuries. 

Giannis averaged 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists for the season. Antetokounmpo has played all 13 of his NBA seasons in Milwaukee and holds every major statistical record in franchise history. He led the Bucks to their first NBA Finals in 50 years back in 2021.  

 As of Monday morning, Dusty May is leaving the University of Michigan to become the new head coach of the Dallas Mavericks. The next question is, who will replace May in Ann Arbor? Here are a few names that could be involved with taking over the reigns as the Wolverine basketball leader. 

Some of these coaches could be the next in line this fall. Saint Louis' Josh Schertz, Vanderbilt's Mark Byington, Texas Tech's Grant McCasland, Iowa's Ben McCollum, Iowa State's T.J. Otzelberger, Alabama's Nate Oats, and former Chicago Bulls and Florida Gator coach Billy Donovan to name a few possible candidates.
