Donovan takes over as assistant coach with San Antonio

Recently, former Chicago Bulls coach Billy Donavon stepped away from his duties after six seasons last April as the leader of the team from the Windy City. Donovan’s name was on many lists for multiple jobs at both the NBA and college levels.

Instead, Donovan will become Mitch Johnson’s lead assistant with the Spurs.  Donovan won two national championships as the coach of Florida in 2006 and 2007. This marks the first time the Hall of Famer has held an assistant role since 1994.

On another note, Donovan played college basketball for Rick Pitino at Providence in 1987, when the Friars went to the final four.  

Cade Cavalli and Willson Contreras face seven-game suspensions. 

Major League Baseball handed out the punishments for the bench-clearing brawls that occurred last Tuesday in the Nationals' 8-1 win over the Red Sox.

Cavalli and Contreras will face seven-game suspensions as both were instigators of the confrontations.  Washington pitcher Miles Mikolas received a five-game suspension and Red Sox outfielder Nate Eaton must sit three games. Each of these suspended players must pay a fine as well.
